Vivian & Brenda Benney

welcome you to

Skyburriowe Farm

Approaching Skyburriowe Farm
Lizard Peninsula

The approach to the secluded and tranquil farm setting is along a leafy no through road.

You do not have to travel far before you discover the dairy farm entrance on the right and the gate to the rear of the 120 year old farmhouse on the left. For three generations their family have worked the land and tended the animals. Brenda & Vivian are a true Cornish familly.

In 1891 whilst under the ownership of the Trelowarren Estate, the old house was damaged by fire. It now forms part of the cattle shed in the farmyard opposite the farmhouse.

If you enjoy walking there are the local footpaths that cross the farm and of course there is always the long distance coastal path with its stunning views and wild life.

A 10 minute drive in any direction will enable you to search out one of the secluded coves or sandy beaches such as Gunwalloe, Kynance or Poldhu. Good pub food can be located within a few minutes drive. The local market town of Helston is approximately 10 minutes away by road. Helston has retained a strong sense of history and tradition and is of course famous for its Flora Day. Located on the outskirts of the town there is a boating lake. Opposite is a picnic area located on the borders of the National Trust's Penrose Estate. There is a contrasting walk through here. You will pass through the lodge gates and on into the main park area. Following the path you will soon see the large house, home to the Rogers family, with its old bath house fed from a well. On through the trees following the contour of the largest natural fresh water lake in Cornwall to Loe Bar itself. Here HMS Anson was wrecked by a winter storm in 1807. A monument to those drowned is visible on the left hand side of the pool when standing looking out to sea. Basking sharks can sometimes be seen near to the shore as they follow their migratory route around the British coastline. The LizardPeninsula remains largely unspoilt with its rugged coastline, small fishing villages and central moorlands, home to rare birds and plants.
